Day 4 • Richmond, IN to just West of St. Louis

I got up early, checked my app to see how the car was doing, and saw that I was fully charged !!  45 degrees..  and light rain.  I left at 6:40am.  It was so dark it felt like 3am !   I had 100 miles under my belt by 8:30am !  By 9:30 I was at the Terre Haute KOA with 101 miles in the car.   It’s 12:30 right now and I have 184 miles.  I think I’m going to wait here and charge more so I can make it all the way to St. Louis without stopping to charge in a spot that was not very nice on the way out..  I think I can skip Casey, IL this time !!

The sun has come out and the temp. is up to 46 !

By 3:20 this afternoon I am up to 264 miles !!  I can make it past St. Louis on that to the KOA in Pacific, MO.

at 6pm I arrived, and went in search of dinner.  I had looked up “restaurants” as I do everywhere.  When Denny’s is the highest rated I know I’m in trouble.  About 3 1/2 miles away was something called the Pacific Brew Haus.  It had to be better than Denny’s.  Nice old building, a long bar and about 15 TV’s.  The Red Sox game was just starting, so I watched a little bit of the game.  I asked about what red wine they had and the young plump, endowed waitress looked at me like I was from Mars and asked her a question in a different language..  She stuttered and said they had them, but no list and she didn’t know what they had.   I went to the bar and found a nice Washington Cab. (Hogue), ordered a salad and a burger.  The lettuce was not exactly fresh.  I’m not sure they serve many in this place.  As I was eating it, the waitress came by and asked how the rabbit food was…  funny place this midwest..

I had a hard time getting the app to connect with the car.  Not much reception at these KOA Kampgrounds.

The charging stopped a couple of times and each time I dialed it down from 40 Amps to 37 amps to 33 amps.  When that one stopped, I asked the guy in the office if I could switch sites.  The one right behind me is open, so I plugged in there at 36 Amps..  So far so good.  It’s run for about an hour with no problems.. so I am going to bed with about 100 miles in the car.  Here’s hoping I wake to a full battery.
