Wow, seems like a long time ago that I woke up somewhere South of Trenton. I left at about 6 this morning headed for Newark,Deleware. The Superchargers are on a highway that is used by people going to Washington and up to the city. When I arrived there was a silver Tesla with aftermarket wheels and black leather with red piping. The sticker on the side said Bronxville, NY. (I asked him if he knew Arthur Hyde. He said he did ! He is a lawyer who teaches at Georgetown once a week. He was on his way there)
The next time I came outside to take a walk there was another Tesla (Black) from Virginia. By the time I left there was another car there. 4 in a row !
I left there fully charged. Next stop Hagerstown, MD at an nice outlet mall. I left the car and headed right to Columbia. I bought a shirt there on the way out and this time I found several great shirts and even a couple of tops for Kate ! (I talked to her while I was there). Then I went to New Balance and got a pair of sneakers. My car had been fully charged for over half an hour by the time I got back to it. I could have stayed there for a while. I was the only car there for the whole time.
Driving in this part of the world, into PA is such a pleasure after yesterday’s traffic and ugliness. This morning there were rolling hills, and farmhouses and fields of corn and silos and birds !! So much nicer driving, and then I got into Pennsylvania and construction. With tight lanes between concrete temporary walls and no shoulder, driving through the state was not fun. Last time I was here is was all of that plus it was pouring ! At least it was a nice sunny day. My next stop was Somerset, PA. Superchargers in a parking lot behind Verizon and Wendy’s. I got a chance to see and hold the new iPhone6 and 6Plus. The big one isn’t as big as I thought. It’s pretty nice. I talked to Viviette for a while..Gallery business, art fairs, the On the Map show.. Again. I was the only Tesla charging.
Next stop Cranberry, PA, south of Pitsburgh. Behind a Marriott, I was the only car. A quick charge and I was on my way to Macedonia, OH, south of Cleveland. If my timing was right charging I could get one more leg past this.. that is until I ran into traffic.. I must have spend and hour either just sitting or creeping along at about 5 miles an hour. By the time I got to the end of all of that, I never saw the cause, unless it was just reducing the highway to 1 lane. Who knows, but it was exhausting. The good part of that last drive was the sunset. Really pretty and the biggest sun I have ever seen !!
I got to the supercharger and was just going for a walk when another white car pulled in !
I hardly ever see white. A very nice Spanish man was the driver, with a very pretty and funny wife. I gave them my postcard and blog info. We talked about, what else ? cars. He bought an S the same time as I bought mine (vin 4000) and he traded it in with 40,000 miles on it for a newer car that is also an upgrade. He got the Performance model. nice ! She directed me to Strongsville as a place that was about 20 miles west (on my way to the next charger) with good hotels and restaurants. I found a good Thai place and checked into a Holiday Inn. Too late to drive another 2 hours to the next charger.
