Day 5 • Albany, NY to Biddeford Pool, ME

New York – Massachusetts – New Hampshire – Maine

I started day 5 in Albany, New York.  The navigation said for me to go through Vermont and into Manchester, New Hampshire for superchargers.  There are hardly roads that go across Vermont or New Hampshire.  They all seem to go North-South.  That seemed like the long way to go, so I headed out the New York State Thruway headed to Massachusetts.

I could have stopped in Springfield to charge, but was easily able to make it to Auburn (Worcester) where the superchargers are brand new.

I charged for about an hour while I walked around a mall that wasn’t open yet..

I met a guy from Ct. who was using a supercharger for the first time (he pulled in sideways).  He asked where I was going and I told him and he said he knew it well.  He said he had been here for lunch with some friends, the Cashens.  We talked for a few minutes and I was off for my last leg to Biddeford Pool.  Not long into the drive I ran into more construction, this time on the dreaded 495.  We creeped along until we all finally merged and then back up to the speed limit (and a few over).  An hour after that I crossed the bridge into Maine,

and about 40 minutes after that I was getting off in Biddeford and made my way to Biddeford Pool.

I picked Dana up at the store with a fish sandwich ordered for me, and drove to our house.

Four and a half days to get here.  Not the same adventure as staying in KOA Kabins, but still a fun drive and some pretty landscape.  It’s nice to be here and nice to have my car here.

In talking to the guys (all guys this trip) at the superchargers, there are the ones who just love driving and have had their cars for a year or more, and then there seems to be the new buyers who aren’t quite as adventurous but love their new cool, fast, all-wheel-drive cars.  It still feels like an adventure when I pull into a supercharger station.  I love the thrill of being an early adopter and telling the new drivers about my road trips.  Aaah, the days when there were no superchargers and I charged at KOA Kampgrounds.
